The correct response is to throw the muck at the FS, then tell him he touched the muck so he's dead.

This made me giggle a lot.

On a somewhat related note, In SoCal, there's even a rule that if a player *in the hand* asks to see a hand that has been folded, that hand is STILL LIVE - if the player accidentally mucked the winner, the pot would be awarded to the mucked hand - even if he had folded.

[/ QUOTE ]

What casino has that awful rule (as stated)? If you are talking about the 'winner' asking to see a mucked hand, OK. But if you say any player with a live hand at showdown asking to see a mucked hand makes it live, then it is a horrible rule.

Yeah. Tony, you play at the bike mostly and I don't recall seeing this rule enforced there although I admit that I can't remember if it has ever come up at a table I've been playing on. I can picture a couple of the floors there who would make this ruling but also a few who wouldn't.

You are right - to clarify - if the *winner* of the pot asks to see any mucked hands from players - those hands are still considered to be "live" hands.

Sorry for not being more clear.

No one mentioned the fact that one card (the ace) was visibly shown, while the other card (insignificant to the result of the hand) was the card in question.
From my experience, sometimes people will purposely show one card (usually when it is the only significant card for showdown) and will muck the other card. When this happens the dealer will say you need to show 2 cards and then it is shown and he is awarded the pot. I don't recall ever seeing a player penalized for doing this.

First you should PM who this is so I can avoid his room. Then you should point him out to me if I come pay you a visit.

I think that a hand should be dead once it touches the muck, however this must be qualified by "bes hand shown down rule" i.e. An obviously winning hand cant be mucked. if he mucks face down they should be dead but face up they HAVE to be live or you could swindle dealers into getting them to muck good hand for you and you scooping.

I usually only see this happen when they put both cards in front and only flip one, not really mucking the other. I can't imagine someone actually mucking the kicker for a hugely contested pot intentionally. Does this actually happen?
