Re: What\'s your preferred work-life balance?
[ QUOTE ]
I really detest the phrase "work-life balance" on a number of levels. For one thing, it implies that there is an inherent tension between the two things. For another, it implies that "life" is just another obstacle for your employer to work around as it tries to manage to its P&L. The best employers establish clear expectations and deadlines, and then give their employees a lot of discretion about how to manage their own lives to meet those. [/ QUOTE ] Pls to be hiring me at a company that lets me decide how to manage my life to meet my work deadlines |

Much like OP, I enjoy my free time. I may leave work at 5-5:30, but I'm not home until 8 or later because of what I do after work that lets me wind down from the day. [/ QUOTE ] Nothing like stabbing a few hobo's to take the edge off, huh? |

I never really got people that said they get bored without working. There are so many hobbies/books etc that you can get into if you didnt have to work.
I think a person have to be incredibly unmotivated or boring. |

Re: What\'s your preferred work-life balance?
I've worked alot of different scehdules but my favorite seemed to be 3 12's. The bad part was I was working Fri, Sat, and Sun. but do you know how much you can get done with 4 days off in a row. It was like a mini vacation every week.
I never felt worn or burned out in the 3 years that company was here. Also, if you take just three days vacation, you essentially had 11 days off...very effective. I think the configuration of the hours you work helps/harms you're feeling burned out or not my two scents |

Re: What\'s your preferred work-life balance?
My schedule:
Wake up at 8:15 Get to work at 9 ~95% of the time leave at 5 Get home at 5:15-5:30 depending on how long i have to wait for the train Do whatever til midnight, go to bed Rinse, repeat We get an hour for lunch so our weeks are technically 35 hours according to HR. I like it. |
