Default Pokerstars Paper Check Trip Report

Requested a check from stars on Sunday night for about 3k. It arrived at my door this morning at about 9:00. Went to the bank at 9:30 to deposit.

The teller had a funny look on her face and after about 3 minutes of clicking on her computer screen, she said there would be a five day hold on the funds from this check. I become very worried and say "no problem" and leave.

I have deposited a check from pokerstars before. There was no problem and no "hold." However, the last check was only for about $300. This one was for $3200. I will update in 5 days to tell everyone if I got the money. But I am worried for sure.

Isn't this normal? For a check over a certain amount to have a waiting period?

Non-Local: Non-local checks are drawn on banks outside the check-processing region where the deposit is being made. These funds must be available to you by the morning of the fifth business day after the day of deposit. Beware--deposits of cash or checks made at ATMs not located at the bank with which they're affiliated can be held as long as non-local checks.

How did the check look ? Did it state on the check that it was from pokerstars or it just had credentials of london bank ?

the check was very large and fake looking. however, there was nothing on the check to indicate that it came from pokerstars or any gambling site.

I was gonna post this same topic this morning.

Monday AM I request a check >$1000.
Wednesday AM it arrives via Fedex.

The check looks like a foreign check but it says U.S. bank on it.

This afternoon I am depositing.

FWIW I don't believe it is unusual for banks to put a hold on out of state checks.

Augie,

we both seem to have gotten our checks extremely fast. Where do you live? I'm in Florida.

its very common for banks to wait for it to clear if you dont have that much money in your account.

In other words if you account had $5000 in it they would cash it and if it didnt clear take it out of your account. But if you only have $50 in the account you will have to wait until it clears.

And for those who are unaware:

Checks<$1000 are shipped via standard mail and take 10-15 business days I believe.

Any check delivered via the courier service will be extremely fast.

I'm interested to hear more about this check hold because I might be requesting a PokerStars check for the first time post-NETELLER US shutdown.
