Still, it's news to me and many other posters here. And in addition to helping you be lazy, you're less likely to forget your gas cap on the roof of your car.

I'm really surprised this is new to some of you. In Massachusetts most of the pumps have a sticker saying it's illegal to do this.

News to me. OP, eff the haters. It's been awhile since I've seen a pump that didn't have the "auto-hold feature or whatever it's called" though.

Only in some states, because they are state laws that prohibit them.
