while i agree with sirio on this issue, the math he present honestly surprises me. a 1k difference in equity in the biggest tourney of the week with 18/6000 people left doesn't seem like the most compelling reason to stop this unethical practice.

honestly i'd be super interested to know:

1)how many of the players in the sunday million or playing more than one account (25-50??)

2)what percentage of players in the sunday million are staked/will get significant advice on hands if they get deep.

I have bought 1 stack about 5 months ago and after I did it and during I wish there was a way to go back and sell it back because I didn't feel right about it.

And that's good enough for the Aztecs.

As for the rest, <shrugs> there's a balance.

Shane,

Most probably you're right and I'm just wasting my time. Maybe it was my Jesuit high school education, I don't know. But I do think this particular problem is a problem relatively easy to solve, not for us of course, but by the poker sites, but why will they?

[ QUOTE ]
The sort of ambitious young equity hounds who seem to be the perpetrators here won't be swayed by your pleas

Maybe not, but I think threads like this one may help the beginners and it may help to create a better poker culture environment, probably I'm too idealistic, but let me give you an example: Mexico and the US have similar traffic laws, but while in the US most people use to follow them and the traffic goes smoothly because of this, in Mexico most people just don't care and there's a lot of chaos. When I travelled in Europe, I noticed some transportation systems, train, subway, rely on an honor system and still most people buy their tickets; you can't do this in Uganda, hell maybe even in Detroit. You may say that the reason is law enforcement, but I think it's more of a culture thing. But of course we do need both; law enforcement and good culture in poker. I think as today the Poker Nation is a third world country, with the usual suspects profiting from the anarchy.

But I agree with the whole idea of your post, very well written as usual.

lol. if its allowed and everyone else is doing it,

Just in case a novice may think this is true; it is not:

Poker Stars Rule 21

"With trivial exceptions, a player may play on only one account during a tournament and may not "hand off" his seat in mid-event to a different player. Violation of this rule may result in penalties ranging from a warning, to disqualification from the tournament (with partial or full forfeiture of winnings), to barring from PokerStars."

I wonder if somebody has been barred or winnings confiscated because of this law.

I'm reading the poker-king articles, I would say, pretty good poker gossip on that site.
