Wow, I never even heard this name mentioned. Score one for the mandatory minority interview process.

He was one of the three finalists. I can't imagine how Russ Grimm must feel. He must have interviewed terribly.

He's only 34 years old. That suggests to me the Steelers were looking for someone to keep for the long haul like Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher.

Last two Steelers coaches lasted 23 and 15 years.
Noll started out 12-30 first three years.
Cowher survived a 22-26 three year stretch in the middle of his term.
Wonder how much slack Tomlin gets.

This has to be it. I thought he was a foregone conclusion.

I had no idea he was black.

He's highly regarded as an up and coming young coach and he was considered one of the last three candidates especially after Whisenhunt left. I'm not surprised.

From a few things I've read it sounds like Grimm has the personality of oatmeal.

I don't like this at all.

1)Tomlin is a 4-3 guy. A big question will be does he want Pittsburgh to change into a 4-3 is Tomlin going to have to learn the 3-4? Either way, it sucks.

2)Tomlin's secondary has been horrible in Minnesota. That's the Steelers biggest weakness on D. That part doesn't make sense either. (I'll give him his TB time though as a little slack)

3)6 whole years of NFL experience and never once a player in the NFL. Just doesn't seem to fit the mold for the Steelers at all.

===========

I'm also adding that I don't believe the SI article yet. It makes no sense to name Tomlin the HC when they want to talk to Rivera again and not waiting at least till Monday to see if they can. Tomlin ain't going anywhere over the weekend.
