Value bet 2pr on river or what - 3/6
Villain is 27/14 and RLY passive postflop. Not showing down garbage as far as I can tell. Bet this river to get value out of AK or what? Or am I only getting called by better hands?

Re: Value bet 2pr on river or what - 3/6
I'm confused, since I'm not sure what he'd c/c flop and turn with after pfr on A high board (does he really think TT-KK is good here?). A set or different two pair could be if he's that passive post flop and would c/c to induce bets from you. If he raised w/ AK or AQ from the SB here wouldn't he bet this (drawy) flop? I dont get it. Just decide if it's worth going broke here. Put him on a range better than I have done- you know him.

I think you have to value bet on the river. He raised preflop which probably means a big ace since he called on the flop. You have to punish him especially since it is pretty clear what he has. Your play preflop is questionable to me but whatever.

Preflop sucks, postflop is standard.

why is limping pf so bad here?

Re: Value bet 2pr on river or what - 3/6
I don't like the preflop play at all. If you don't feel confident in the hand enough to raise then fold. Playing a dominated ace in a hand where someone else has the initiative sucks because it's hard to gain control of the action. Imo he doesn't have AK here, this looks more like QQ-KK trying to keep you honest or maybe a medium ace, like AT or AJ who tried to pickup the pot pf but even that should be weighted due to his postflop action. It could also be a fd, maybe something like TJs, or 9Ts, I think he has a wide range, but his passive postflop play doesn't indicate a hand you're losing to. This is somewhat of a draw flop vs multiple opponents, it's highly unlikely that he's checking a vulnerable 1p hard, it's also unlikely he's slow playing a set or another big hand because you would have heard from him on the turn. I would value bet but small, probably aropund 200 and hope for a call.

why is limping pf so bad here? [/ QUOTE ] For several reasons. 1. Limping fails to gain us initiative on the flop. 2. Limping allows the blinds to come in with hands like A8,A9,AT,AJ 3. Raising makes the hand easier to play, if it's limped around and someone leads into us it's really hard to know if our hand is good enough to raise and to put bets in on the later streets. 4. It doesn't allow us to isolate an open limping player. |
