Default thanks - WTF?

100NL, PP 6MAX.

Effective Stacks 100.

Reads: Very little, my first orbit at table, villian has big stack $450 and played 4 of 5 hands. So very little.

PF: One limper to hero in SB, I raise to 5 w AKo, villain in BB calls, limper folds.

Flop: A25r ($11 in pot)

I lead for 10, villian pushes, as I think about the call, villian types 'thanks' in the chat box.

WTF? Thoughts? First level thinking is that he's expecting a call, is he trying to fool me into folding?

Call. It's a set < 25% of the time. It might be A2s or A5s, but I doubt it; even if it is, you can still suck out.

Also, was "Thanks" possibly related to a prior conversation?

Edited to add a little thought.

I'm down with the ssnl weak-tight Kool-Aid, so I say fold.

Absent chat, fold.

If you're going to consider the chat, consider the Caro rule: if you want an opponent to call, and he's thinking, then do something, ANYTHING, to break his train of thought, and you're much more likely to get him to call. Knock over chips live, type in the chat box online. I've never tried it but others will attest.

So considering chat, fold again.

EDIT: Bah, thought it was full ring; probably a call 6max but I suck shorthanded.

villain seems loose, and may have spiked a weak ace. I'm leaning ever-so-slightly towards calling.

"thanks" could also mean "thanks for the $10 I'm stealing from you with this all-in"

If you get this confused by chat, you better turn it off.

ad,

got to go now....i'll respod fuller later, but:

you will obv see A2/A5/3422/55 some times

AJ/AQ a lot, A3/A4 a decent % and even 33/44 a bit. As well as the odd donk with lower PP and also a weak ace sometimes
