Pappy says don\'t draw to a gut shot but???
8-16 that is very loose and reasonably aggressive with a total mix of weak average and strong players. Average game in Tucson.
You pick up KTs, Clubs, on the button. Loose Aggresive player (UTG) limps Very Tight girl playing over her comforl level (VT) limps Very Loose sees every flop player (VL) Limps I (HERO), of course, limps Very loose Aggressive (SB) limps another very loose weak player (BB) raises All call!! 12 small bets in the pot Flop Ac - Qd - 6h BB bets, UTG and VT fold, VL calls, I have an easy call. SB mucks. 3 see the turn and there are 7 1/2 big bets in the pot. Turn is 3 spades. BB bets, VL calls so there are 9 1/2 big bets and I need 11 to 1 to call but I believe I can make 2 or 3 more big bets if I hit my gutshot giving me enough implied odds to call. What is my action here?? |

Re: Pappy says don\'t draw to a gut shot but???
I think you'll make up the 1 BB required if you hit your gutshot; I'm guessing at worst BB might check/call, but other than that you're probably making a profit (perhaps even trapping VL for some bets). Also, any straight you make will be the absolute nuts for this board (i.e. no flush or full house possible). Easy call?
Also, does anyone else raise preflop here? Loose SB and BB will probably come along, I'm guessing KTs on the button has a slight equity advantage with 6 players? |

Re: Pappy says don\'t draw to a gut shot but???
Well, the three spades which hit on the turn could give someone a flush if they hold two spades in their hand, but...
groan. The fact that if you hit your draw it will always be to the nuts, there are no other draws out so it's likely both players will pay at least one bet on the river, likely two if BB flopped TPTK or better. This is a pretty easy call. And preflop you can certainly raise this on the button against your poor playing opponents. |

Re: Pappy says don\'t draw to a gut shot but???
1) raise pre-flop and you wouldn't be asking the question.
2) with 9.5 BB you just barely have the right implied odds to call. |

Re: Pappy says don\'t draw to a gut shot but???
I think you can call, but just barely. OOP this is a fold. Since Kit says raise pf....raise pf. Actually I'd have raised pf with suited Tens down to JT....I'll add T9 to the list

TY + Results
Thanks for all your help. I folded and watched the J hit the board. The Blind bet and the other player folded so I don't know how far behind I was. Raising BTF had not crossed my mind but it will from now on.
