Durron, 4 or 5 points is like a wolf or a seer.

That's still a freaking lot.

[/ QUOTE ]

Theoden can say "I am Theoden."

I think sighing underestimates this power huge.

This game would also be better if no one knew what all the roles were (though I generally don't like this setup, but that's the only way having more power villagers than wolves works at all).

[/ QUOTE ]
Theoden dies if role-blocked. So that would give the wolves a free kill.

I think lastchance underestimates the importance of reading the power list.

[/ QUOTE ]
Once the witch-king dies, a claimable role is pretty much worth the extra-kill.

So yeah... I realize that. Even with that tweak, village is like a wolf/seer up.

witch king AND sauron, the mouth should be able to get at least one block

If all the people playing had put this much effort into actually playing, that would've changed the game quite a bit.

There were some people who put a lot of effort into it, but there were a number who didn't. Why is this thread only exploding with content after the game ends?

I'm not really going to rush out and do another one of these.

The second roleblock isn't that useful, IMHO.

Not consistent enough to matter.

Village is still a wolf/seer up.

Optimal play for Frodo / Sam here is actually to not claim or leave peeks at all and not even be able to seer hunted at all. Only when one of the seers effectively "randomly" dies or randomly gest bandwagoned should they claim. Frodo is actually probably worth more than the 5 points I gave him, as is Sam

[/ QUOTE ]

I disagree with this completely.

Optimal Frodo play if Sam is alive on Day 4 or so is to come out and give the peeks. Then all of Sauron's "names" become completely worthless and Sauron is starting from scratch with the nedw Ringbearer.

VR, think it through.

Wolves have to luckbox Sam anyway even if Frodo comes out. But you're probably right that FREEROLLING Frodo at some point will benefit village because Sam can GAMBOL more.

FREEEEERRRRROOOOOOOLLLLLL!

VR, see my note above on optimal Frodo/Sam/Gollum play

And yes.. in LOTR 1, it was a good play for Sam to fake Frodo. In this game, it's a good play for Frodo to come out with the peeks explicitly, neutralizing Sauron's power.

so something I just realized which is kind of funny, is that as my Pippin-peek on night 2 I peeked Herbie (who was Sauron- KM had peeked VR). So the night I got lynched had I voted for Fmx or Mark it would have been a flip since my vote counted for 2.

[/ QUOTE ]
You were looking for Denethor. Your vote was still 0.

I am actually not complaining about the balance. The wolves should have run and it looked fine before starting. I was more commenting on how unexpectedly hard it was to play the Mouth. Perhaps I played it poorly, but that was the one area where I should have pushed harder for input from my fellow wolves.

I just didn't really know how my votes would be perceived by the village. I would also say that getting that free role block is a lot tougher in practice than it sounds. Let's say it looks pretty clear that a villager is going down. So I vote for him to get my free roleblock, but that presents the very real possibility that votes move off that person and maybe a wolf dies, which is a disaster.
