making $7,000,000 a year off a gambling venture on top of the $2,000,000 i banked winning the WSOP ME.... maybe, just maybe, I'm not so motivated to knock myself out trying to be the gonzo best poker player in da world any more ???? especially with how competitive and obsessive the players are nowadays... possible? |

Re: Chris Moneymaker sighting
[ QUOTE ]
i love hearing about poker players not richer than alot of big poker players because of busines savvy [/ QUOTE ] I would guess if this figure of 6 to 7 mill a year is accurate then he would be right up there and probably ahead of most of the big time pros. Can't imagine any top pros consistently make more then 7 mill year after year from just poker winnings. I've never understood why people rail on Moneymaker so much on these boards. He's a genuinely nice guy who knows he's not the greatest player in the world, although I'd imagine he's better than 90% of the posters bashing him on this site. He's also at least partially responsible for the poker boom and all the dead money in tourney these days. He can basically lend his name to any business venture not put up any equity or take on any liabilty and take part of the upside. |

[/ QUOTE ] Spot on.. and I dont think he minds if he looks like a donk when he plays in a PS $22+R or a casino when he dusts off a few buyins. He is just there to give people a good time and thats good for business.. If he really has kicked his gambling problem he should be set for life |

Re: Chris Moneymaker sighting
But he probably spends $1M per year on cigarettes. When I saw him at NBC Heads Up Championship in April, he was smoking like a chimney And looked like a bum in a rumpled t-shirt!

Re: Chris Moneymaker sighting
If he's making so much, I wonder why he always looks so miserable on TV. Maybe it's just what they choose to show, but he never seems happy and seems to barely tolerate the fan attention. Maybe no matter how well off he might be financially, it still weighs on him that he doesn't get any props as a poker player. If that's the case, I hope he learns to not care what people think and laugh all the way to the bank. If I won the big one, I think I'd just bank it and go back to playing 10/20 limit without caring what anyone says.

HAHAHHAHAHAHA
Moneymaker is broke, whoever believes he makes 7M a year is delusional. If you look for "has-been" in the dictionary theres a Moneymaker pic. |
