I'm thinking about buying this from a money-hungry college kid at the end of my hall. I'm a CS major just looking for a second opinion on the rig.

It's an ok deal. You could get something brand new and better for $700-750.

NZXT Apollo ORANGE NP Orange SECC Steel Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $75
FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX500-PN ATX2.2 500W Power Supply $60
GIGABYTE GA-MA69VM-S2 AM2 AMD 690V Micro ATX AMD Motherboard $60
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane 2.3GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor $85
HIS Hightech H290PR512DVN-R Radeon HD 2900PRO 512MB Video Card $280
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) $65
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive $85
LG Black 18X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW $27
LG Black Combo Drive $23
Total $760

And this was just 10 minutes of me looking. If you play around with combo deals or shop around, you might be able to find some good bargains. Or you could downgrade something and come pretty close. If you don't need top of the line graphics, you could get a Radeon x1950pro and save $145.

Offer $300. Don't pay more than $400. If he's really hurting for money he'll take any reasonable offer. And his asking price is too high.
