Default 3/6: Is this River Bet EVER Anything Else But A Monster?

I called here just to test my theory., even though the call felt terrible. I know... it was.

CO ($594)
Button ($608.80)

Hero ($2081.30)
UTG ($1763.76)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $3.
4 folds, SB (poster) completes, Hero checks.

SB checks, Hero checks.

Turn: ($12) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)

Yes ofcourse it will be something else than a monster a few times, but mostly it is a monster. Sometimes you will split. Dont think you will find any +ev in calling this.

why not bet the flop? i know your hand is pretty weak, but with position at least see where you stand. with the .5pot turn bet, river over bet is a flush every time. no?

Your risk/reward ratio seems very bad.

bet flop for sure in position. If you get called he is either drawing, trips, or 9. You can bet turn and check behind on river if called.

From my experience, he probably has a Jacks full, and is hoping to get a call from trips, straight, or flush.
People often overbet their monsters when it is possible that their opponent has another 5 card hand. I.e. quads vs top full house

insta-fold it. there's no point in risking 80 bucks for a 24 dollar pot when there's a flush out there. villain is hoping for a bad call from a straight. easy fold.
