Default Obsessed with Microstakes

Hey everyone I'm curious - is anyone here excellent enough to rely on microstakes for a living? I multitable short-handed .02-.05 and win about $30 - $80 bucks a day, depending on how many hours I play (I'm finishing my last semester in Economics and I work many hours on campus as well).

That's what I wanted to do after I graduate: day trading and online texas holdem.

.02/.05 is not enough to live on. nl25 if your crushing it would be ok, and nl50 is good. You wont always win so you gotta have enough profit to live off of.

if you want to rely on microstakes for a living. in about two years it will be as boring as working in a factory and about as challenging. Not to mention the state of online poker is in flux and its future is uncertain.

When I lived at my folks house, 25nl was more than enough for my living. Now that I have my own place, I need to realize I have to move up.
When you need more money, you move up, right? =)

I know I could easily make $50+ a day playing $0.02/0.05NL if I put in 5-8 hours a day but if I had that much time to put into grinding these tables, I would hit $25NL once I hit $1000 and $50NL once I hit $2000. Since I don't have alot of time to play through out the week, I'm content for now with $10 here, $15 there, etc.

Not a chance you can live off it.

Let's look even at 25nl - and say a good winrate of 5ptbb/100 (10bb/100 hands).

If you play 30,000 hands a month, that's
30000/100*.25*10 = 750 a month.

A typical 6max table plays around 90 hands an hour, so 4-tabling we're talking about 83 hours of play time here, working out to around $9 an hour. And that's at 25nl.
