Default What Can We Learn From Gus Hansen?

Mike Matusow goes all in PF with 55.Gus Hansen in LP with AQo.While contemplating a call Gus is being berated by Matusow. He continues to tell Gus how much better of a player he is than Gus.Before Gus calls the bet he responds to Matusow with the following. "The difference between you and me is when I call an all in bet and lose I am still in tournament and when you call an all in bet and lose you are usually out of tournament".I think what he is saying is a big factor to his sucess and something most of us dont put enough emphasis on.

I've been saying this for months. Gamble early, you can gamble more later.

Speaking to a well known pro (only the second time I have spoken to a well known pro) over a drink, he believes that Gus is one of the most overrated players out there.

I am not a Gus fan but what does him being overrated have to do with topic of discussion?

My dream is to some day have someone post how he was talking to an unnamed, but reliable, source about how I'm the most over-rated player in the world.

Hey, remember when Matusow was supposedly contrite and a new man after his stay in the pen?

Gus actually said that after he had called and lost and Matusow was bragging about what a great play he had made. This was early in the tournament, Gus had raised first to act on the button with AQ, and that donkey Matusow had made a huge over-reraise all in with a pair of fives.
