Default FT Poker Strategy Guide, Tourney Edition

Hi,

I have a question on the Andy Bloch's chapter, about the Jam or Fold chart. It says that "Jam from SB, Call from BB if either stack has fewer BB's than the number in this table".

Ok so even though I'd have tons of chips at the SB and holding something mediocre like A3o, I should push AI if the BB has fewer chips in BB than 17?

Or do I just look at the column where I am, so either I look at the SB or BB column but not both?

Thanks for the clarification.

You use the smallest stack size, so yes, you would push from the SB with A3o if either you or the BB has fewer than 17 BBs.

Mathematics of Poker, by Chen and Ankenman, describes the process used to derive these jam or fold numbers.
