Re: Poker After Dark discussion thread (week of 3/12)
Gordon obviously has a deep need to be approved of. We saw it last time he was on PAD and we instantly saw it again. PA says he put Eric on a diamond draw and Gordon instantly says, "Me too", which of course, sparked the incident. Lindgren's response was due to Gordon's own insecurity, at least that's how I see it. Gordon and Hellmuth are very, very similar in this manner. Gordon desperately wants to be a part of the "in" crowd, as does Hellmuth. Gordon (and Hellmuth) knows that Ivey, Lindren, Antonius, Harman, are considered poker royalty and are extremely popular. Gordon really wants to be in that group as well. Since he's not going to get more popular, his only hope is to prove how good, how smart, etc., he is. He does this by calling out hole cards post-play. He did it last time he was on the show as well. When Eric called him on it, he instantly realized how bad he sounded, got totally embarassed, and had to shut up. Hellmuth just keeps talking however.

Doesn't DN do the same thing, calling out other pros? [/ QUOTE ] But according to DN, he's good enough to do so and Gordon isn't. This is the same thinking as people who hear someone say the president isn't doing very good and they say "Can you do better? NO? STFU!" I highly doubt I'm as good as any players on TV, but if they pooch a hand bad enough, I believe I have the right to correctly say how bad they botched the hand. |

Re: Poker After Dark discussion thread (week of 3/12)
By the way, did anyone see Ivey make that fish face at Gordon at the very end of the show, before Shana's sign-off? He looks at Gordon and the camera, and puffs out his cheeks and widens his eyes like a fish, then smirks at Lindgren.
