Cheating: More Acceptible for Guys?
As a thinking individual, who happens to be male, I believe that women who cheat bring about far worse consequences for their relationship than men who cheat. I also believe men are more tempted/naturally inclined to cheat than women. I think the real isssue is that men get caught by emotional or physical evidence. So men, be "spartan" with your cheating!
If a woman cheats: -Guy could end up raising another mans child (if you don't know why this is bad, read no further) -Higher chance for nasty physical confrontation -Guy's pride wont survive (most cases) -STDs (i think women are likely to blow guy they cheat with and not use condom than vice versa) +Shows a women will optimize her mate selection (Fast Freddy's kid, Steady Eddy's paycheck) Guy cheats: -outside kid, child support +women kind of expect this i think...it implied your mate is desirable +Guy's sons more likely to carry on your genes due to promiscuity? -Guy is too dumb to avoid getting caught |

Re: Cheating: More Acceptible for Guys?
It seems like the consequences of a guy cheating are higher. If a woman gets pregnant from cheating, she can always have an abortion without either guy knowing. If a guy cheats and gets a girl pregnant, he has no control over whether to have the baby or not. |

Re: Cheating: More Acceptible for Guys?
hmmmm....actually, I believe the opposite to be true. Generally speaking, when a man cheats he is thought to be a dog, a pig, an unthinking and thoughtless jerk who is led by his baser instincts.
When a woman cheats, it is usually thought that she wasn't getting the emotional support she needed at home, or that her husband probably brought about her cheating in some way and that her infidelity is understandable. |

We had a thread this week about a gal shooting her guy in the back and getting away with it. But, she probably wasn't getting the emotional support she needed, so ...

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure about this. In one sense I do agree with you. People tend to think the woman cheats for emotional support. But from what I've seen, a woman who cheats is never forgiven and can never live down the embarrassment. I think people are more forgiving of the guy and while they might be sort of sympathetic toward the cheating girl they always consider it a character flaw. With the man it's considered a one time only thing, or even laughed off as the guy with too much testosterone. You never hear of anyone accusing the cheating guy of having a personality disorder. |

Yes. This isn't really a term I've heard used much for either men or women though. Usually I hear neurotic, or something else.
