Strange rules at my local Casino, Pee + EV
So I thought I would play live for a change and play at my local even though the rake is pretty high, I was in a sociable mood.
I grab a seat utg+1 and dealer asks me if I'm in. I say "nah, I'll wait for the bb" he looks at me weird, maybe this isn't common here I think. One of the other players tells me that I don't have to post, so I'm a bit confused and say "sure I'm in". So I get a free couple of hands, great. I play a few orbits and start to feel a bathroom break is needed so I fold utg wondering if they will want me to post when I get back. I return, I have the button and I don't have to post a blind and dead! I'm thinking my breaks are going to be timed this way in the future. They also call it the 5/10 limit game, even though those are just the blinds and it's really 10/20, which is the lowest limit at the casino. Had two people at the table who didn't even know hand rankings. Granite |

The Pee +EV bit is strange.
Not posting to come in is, however, common in the Northwest - in fact here when you sit down UTG+1, they are asking whether you want to start now with just two free hands, or wait until the cutoff! (We DO give people missed blind buttons, though.) I've been curious for a long time whether this was common in other parts of the country/world. |

Maybe I just had a dealer that didn't know any better and I was meant to pay the missed blinds. I wasn't going to complain too much.
The not posting the blinds on the come in seemed standard at the casino, so looks like the dealer was right there. Didn't relaise there were other casino's in the world that did this. Burswood Casino. Perth Australia. Granite |

Many smaller rooms allow you to come in without posting. Including rooms in vegas. I've never seen one that allowed you to let the button pass and then not post.

Not just small rooms -- the Taj Mahal apparently doesn't charge you to sit down in a $1-2 NL game. But that's weird about allowing you to miss your blind totally. How long has this room spread poker?
