Default 5/10 deep, villian makes uncharacteristic bets

Playing 5/10 full ring at the Tropicana. Max buyin is 1500. I have a stack of about 1800. Villian has me covered.

Some background info about villian: was this guy who was a pretty poor player. He had gotten extremely lucky recently hitting a one outer to beat set over set for a 4k pot. Anyways, this guy is always limping and calling huge raises OOP. I saw him call a raise of 60 with no limpers before the raise with Q9s... he checked the whole hand down when he could have easily stolen the pot. He was pretty passive in general but he could be holding anything.

I had been involved with 3-4 hands with this guy where I raised pre, he called, I made standard cbet and he folds.

The table+my image: like I said the table was playing fairly loose with lots of limps (but not that many raises). Generally when I would come into a pot I would raise big to punish the limpers. The this hand comes up were I'm pretty confused.

I have 33 in middle position and there are 2 limps. I make it 60 and it folds around to villian who calls.

Flop comes: 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and he leads out 50 into me. This really confused me because if he had been paying any attention he would think that I would bet if checked to. Also the bet amount seemed really suspicious. So I called.

Turn: He dark bets 45 and the turn comes 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. At this point I have no idea what is going on in this hand. However, I feel like I might even have implied odds to draw to the 3 considering how bad this guy was. So again I called.

River: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] He "dark-string bets" (as me and my friends coined this after seeing this hand). Basically he puts 80 chips out as a bet before the river card is dealt and then tries to put another stack up against it. The dealer starts berating him about the dark-string bet... anyways I interrupted the dealer and said I'm folding so it doesn't matter.

I still don't get it. I have no idea what he could have had. Why he didn't let me bluff it with position I will never know. All thoughts appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My guess would be TP-any or possibly an over as well.

When bad passive players become uncharacteristically aggressive it's usually because they have an extremely strong hand.
