I'm so confused...WHAT DO I DO

I'm in my home game the other night and it's down to three player and everyone's stacks are even and the guy to my left is just raise every pot extremely high mounts and I can't seem to catch a hand. So how do I play back at this guy if he raises every pot and when I raise he doesn't care about losing his chips and calls...and he calls to the river and catches something.? thanks for all the help

Honestly, he wants to give you his chips, but you won't be able to outplay him. Just find a decent hand and call or push on him.

Deep pocket maniacs are a resource. Develop a tolerance for variance. What is the game and buy in? Low limits feel like "showdown" poker. Tight preflop is the key...make him put in with the worst of it and the math will catch up. He may win ALOT occasionally but will lose ALL eventually.

P.S. Of course he may be a shrewd player with an effective LAG style.

Also, I meant to add. He sounds like a calling station. And against a CS, what do we do? class? class? That's right, we value bet all his money away :P

ok derek, this is an easy one. the only info i need to know are how big the blinds are in relation to ur stacks. how many bets (big blinds) do you have? but once i know that the solution here is simple, but you must keep in mind that it will work IN THE LONG RUN. It may not work on any particular night or hand so dont be descouraged, just keep on grinding it out. This is the solution.......this guy is raising and raising no matter what two cards he gets. obviously he doesnt always have a premium hand. so what you need to do is tighten up. play only premium hands when he does this. that way when he raises and u have AA KK QQ AK u can reraise the [censored] out of him and he will most likely call being that he is such a loose cannon. then u are in an awsome situtation especially if he has a hand like q2 off or ace rag or king ten because he is dominated. just remember that this strategy wont work on every hand. u may have AA and he raises and u reraise and then he flops trips and u get stacked. but just remember that if u use this strategy in the long run u will gain money. u will gain money as long as this is true....the amount he raises is more than the amount of blinds u lose from folding preflop by the time u call one hand with a premium hand. so if he raises 10 bets and u fold ten times and on the 11th u reraise and he folds u have broken even. if he raises ten bets on the first hand and u raise and he folds u have just made ten bets. Therefore u have ten more bets to fold until the next premium hand comes along. the thing is that when u have a premium hand he will be in it to the river as u say so u will end up making more than just ten bets, hence u will make money in the long run. just an example....blinds are 1/2 u all have stacks of 400 u are on the button three handed. ur loose friend is in the small blind. u call b4 u see ur hand and he raises up to 40 (20 bets...a huge raise preflop into a pot of only 5) ur other friend folds and its on u. u look down to see AK off. you should raise here and NOT NOT NOT NOT the minium. raise at LEAST 65 here. aggression is key. make him pay to see the flop when you know you have a better hand. whenever you are ahead get as much money in the pot as possible. most likely he is way behind and u get a ton of money out of him because he is a calling station. have any more problems dont hesitate to ask.
