Default How to sign up for a tourney in Vegas

I posted this in the Beginner's section, but maybe this is a better place for it...

Long time reader, first time poster... I did a search and did not find this.

I am going to Vegas in a few weeks - I have been to Vegas before, but only for table games; this is my first time playing poker there.

My question is how do I go about signing up for some of the regular tourneys - I'm talking about the Caesar's $330, the 8pm game at Binions, the Venetian $540, etc... I have only played a few small local tournaments and I actually sign up by going to the cashier, paying for the tourney, then I get an entry slip I take to the poker room.

Is it the same in Vegas - do you go to cashier cages first? Or do I go to a poker tournament area to sign up for a tourney?

Also, I believe you can only sign up 2 hours ahead of time, correct? (10am for a Noon tourney).

Thanks in advance!

Caesars you have to have a card first. Then you go to the cage and sign up.

Do you also need any type of card or something before you can register for the Venetian tourneys?

Thanks... I am staying at Caesars, so I will get a Players Card after check-in.... I plan to play some deep-stack tourneys at the Venetian and Bellagio as well.

Yes, you need a player's card at the V.

On the way in to Caesars or Venetian zip by the Total Rewards desk or V's equivalent. You hand 'em your driver's license, they hand you it back along with a player's card. Take that to the poker room. Follow the crowd to find the tourney registration desk (or ask). Bellagio, just hand 'em your cash or chips (for big events they don't take cash at the tourney registration--you have to stop by the cashier first and convert cash into yellow chips). Binions, just show up and find the line at the tourney registration desk and hand 'em cash.

Thanks again to everyone for answers. Looking forward to playing a mix of tournament structures and patience factors to gain more experience.

Cheers.
