no shot if you're truly out of shape... especially since that seems like its at the pace you ran your best cc times when you were a "runner"

If there was some way of verifying this, there could be some sick action on this it seems. No one believes in me

I've been pushing for 50 mins but I can't seem to get him to budge past 47 or 48.

I'd probably go for the 48 if I were you.

just get your ipod set to play "eye of the tiger" on repeat and you'll do it in well under 45 minutes

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL. Went running with my wife's ipod yesterday ... first song = Eye of the Tiger. 4 minutes and 5 seconds of heaven.

50 minutes should be doable for a young guy who has some running experience. I'm 34 and can do 45 minutes ... 40 if there's enough money on it.

But why speculate? Go down to a track and give it a shot.

I'm really confused as to why everyone thinks this is so hard. I'm 22 drink, like a fish and play maybe a couple of hours of hockey and squash a week with biking to class thrown in and I did a 10K in about 50 minutes recently. Most of my friends who were running beat me. Acting like a high school senior has no shot at this, without some sort of evidence of how "out of shape" he is, is crazy.

Also, OP, your soccer playing friend has either never tried to do this, or is lying to you. I think almost everyone in decent shape, without a medical condition, under the age of 30 could do this.
