I think he is talking about batting .130 hitter Doug Mienkiewitcz (or whatever) in the two hole.

My guess is Torre was thinking he'd get a lot more pitches to hit in the two hole but yeah, it was a pretty dumb move.

Every year people talk about Torre getting fired and it never happens. So you all can just relax and switch to decaf.

Never say never...decaf = the ghey...2004 is when Torre should have been fired...but w/ever if he does get the axe as much as I love Mattingly (and I do think he can do a good job FWIW), Joe Girardi needs to be the obv. choice to manage FTW.

I agree that Girardi, and not Mattingly, should be the replacement if/when Torre is fired.

Steinbrenner, however, would have hired Girardi to be the bench coach if he also believed this.

this is torres last year. if they keep losing there is no reason to keep Torre. And there is really no reason for Torre to stay. The move would be beneficial if only that it might save Proctor from blowing his arm out.

100% agreed...which in part is why he didn't get fired for Pinella last season...The Yankee brass has been grooming Mattingly has the heir apparent for the past couple of seasons now, and it would be a big slap in his face if they brought someone else in , despite having better qualifications.
