Default Folding Trips on the River, Settle an Argument

I'm still very new to NL, but I thought this was a fairly safe fold. My brother disagrees.

Opponent here seems to be very loose/passive. Small sample of stats show him at 50/3 preflop (50ish hands so take with a grain of salt).

One thing I've noticed while playing the low limits is that pot-sized river bets seem to be very strong hands.

Fold or call? How's the rest of the hand?

I fold because Im a big sissy and when a weak player c/c me on every street and then reverses the action for a PSB- its almost always a that they slowplayed. Especially b/c its HU, youre the pf raiser, and he limped.

Youre only ahead of K9 and below, AA and QJ.

if he flopped top 2pair, set or brdwy- you're toast.

But I would note to watch if this guy reverses the action on the river a good amount of the time when he's OOP. If so- he's a river bluffer. Sans that read- I fold.

Call.

Even a passive villain raises JJ and QQ, and AK in the small blind.

The straight doesn't make sense from the betting pattern.

So you are behind only KJ and KQ, and then Villain had to be slowplaying the whole way, so these cases are pretty rare.

I don't think folding is terrible, but I think you should call.

As the brother I have to add my call to the list, but i dont think its as clearcut as i initially thought, it is a pretty sizable bet. I should also point out that Im even newer at NL than moozh so I really have no idea what Im talking about...

I'd say you're opponent thinks he is ahead, but that could still mean he's holding a weaker kicker with a king. I think you win this pot half the time, so I call.

From a 50/3 you will see alot of weird [censored], even from a passive player. Its $20 to win $40, and your hand is decent. Call and take a note.
