Huh? Don't tell me this, i just bought an iphone yesterday!

[/ QUOTE ]

haha owned.

I read that the technology is not there yet for flash cards bigger than 16gig or something, thats why they can't make them larger. I'm a sucker for technology so I'll be getting a touch screen. Maybe a 160gig too.

Return it. But seriously, who buys anything Apple the day before a big Apple announcement?

I'm wondering if 160 GB is too big for an iPod. I have about 160 GB of music on my computer, but only a 30GB iPod. But even with a 30 GB iPod, it sometimes gets hard to find a particular song or album. It would take much longer with a 160 GB iPod.

[/ QUOTE ]

Jesus, that's a lot of music.

[/ QUOTE ]

seriously, what quality are you using? how many songs is that?

[/ QUOTE ]

The fact that they are releasing a 160 GB iPod suggests that I'm not the only person with such a collection.

Most of it is encoded using LAME VBR, with a bit rate of around 200 kbps. It's over 20,000 songs. No, I haven't listened to everything yet and I keep most of it mainly because I'm OCD about not ever getting rid of music, no matter how long it's been since I've listened to it.

I have over 80GB of music on my hard drive, but much of it is archival and nothing I need to haul around on my nano. I listen to most of the jazz and classical at home. 8gb is sometimes too small to fit all the music I do want to carry plus all my podcasts though, so 16 would be sweet.

I think they're offering refunds for people who bought before the new launch. Check crunchgear.com for details.

I'm either getting the 80gig classic or the 4gig nano... not going to pay 200 for a 8gig nano, and no need for 160gig of music. And well the touch... I was so hoping for a ipod touch with a big harddisk though

reading various blogs, this is the overwhelming opinion. the touch interface is awesome, but they really hurt themselves by forcing people to take a big step back in capacity. I would have gladly taken a larger (physical) touch if it meant 60g or so, and paid $450 for it.

currently, I don't think buying the big touch makes any sense, just buy an iphone.

weird.

yup. 8gb vs 16 gb makes no difference to me. i'm either keeping my whole library on the thing or changing it occasionally. i don't think the extra 8gb will ever be a huge deal to me. so [censored] that i'll just get an iphone.
