Default Let\'s hear it for spite!

Once your team has arguably the worst collapse in history, there's little left but spite. Luckily, spite has been doing well so far this post-season.

(1) Phillies get swept. At one point, I had actually hoped both the Phillies and Mets would make the playoffs. But when that didn't happen, I considered the thought of having to be around proud Phillies fans, which made me root hard against them. Now it doesn't seem like such a big deal that the Phillies got to play 3 more games then the Mets.

(2) Cubs get swept. This is entirely about a very irritating brother-in-law who is a Cubs fan. But for him, I would definitely have cheered for them. He is so annoying, though, I had little choice.

(3) Yankees are 1 game away from being swept. Not only might they be swept, they might do it with Arod going down in flames again, and Clemens might come up empty in the one remaining spot that could have justified his silly contract. Hearing Yankee fans fret over another first-round failure would make my life much more bearable this off-season. (Of course, if they win the series, I'll return to hell.)

Let's hear it for spite!

Let's hear it for schadenfreude! All my teams rule because I'm from Boston so I have no spite, but I still have gotten a big kick out of the misfortunes of the Mets, Notre Dame, Michigan, Milton Bradley, and Michael Vick.

I'm with you on this one. I have always hated the Yankees and every year they don't win it all with their trillion dollar salary is a moral victory for me.

I can't think of a better scenario than Clemens getting shelled today while A-Rod goes 0-4 with a couple of strikeouts. Meanwhile, TBS continues to show Steinbrenner up in his box with his arms crossed and the biggest scowl on his face.

Spite is great. I've been a Laker hater for the last 10 years more than a Celtic fan. I always root against Duke and UCLA cause of ex-girlfriends who went there.
