My banana has an advertisement on it

I just bought bananas at Safeway and take them out of the bag to eat one and I notice that besides the expected Del Monte label on one of them there is another banana that has a sticker with the following on it:

'Del Monte'....'Disney'....'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest'....'On DVD Dec. 5'....'Sur DVD le 5 Dec.'

What is that last part, French? What is that there for?

Anyway, I am sick of all this advertising crap. It's everywhere you look. There are cars on the highway all done up as rolling billboards. And why are there stickers on every piece of fruit, especially soft fruit? It's hard to get the damn sticker off a plum and it can take a while which is aggravating when you're hungry and sometimes I have to use a knife and it damages the skin.

Before you know it all the pieces of fruit will be covered with advertising stickers. Whichever one of you is responsible for this I demand that you stop it at once!

I'd've never known if not for 'Howard Beale', and ultimately, the company that thought to advertise this fact on a banana.

Right, make sure it grew on the nearby banana tree. I really don't know how dumb you and Ron can be but I'm getting a whiff and it doesn't smell good for your team.

Bananas are packed & shipped like ten thousand miles away and that obviously includes the stickering. It's not like Dole et al gets them here and is all like STOP WE NEED TO PUT MOVIE STICKERS ON THESE BEFORE THEY CAN GO TO MARKET!!!

I knew a guy in grad school doing his Master's thesis on laser printing of labels and ads onto fruit. I stopped by the lab and he printed some porn onto a banana for me. I thought this was a fantastic idea.

I work in advertising. I'm one of those people that actually figures out where to put advertising. That being said...

Those stickers that are apparently ruining your life is also helping to make that banana cheaper for you to buy. I love how everyone ignores that fact that stuff is cheaper or free because of advertising. Bitch about commercials? How about we take out commercials and make every channel cost as much as HBO! Seriously, I know it's a bit annoying, but think about how much advertising actually helps you. Newspapers would cost more than a few quarters, TV shows would all be on pay channels, magazines wouldn't be $12 a year, radio would be subscription only, etc, etc, etc.
