granted, i don't know every fisherman in the country, but I can't think of one jewish fisherman, either of the celebrity or local variety. Maybe babe winkleman? is that a jewish name?

anyway, i guess evan doesn't have it in his DNA.

seriously, though, upstate new york is pretty much the birthplace of american fly fishing. op should get up there, hire a guide and learn to flyfish. it's really not that hard to do. and he can wear waders (the "rubber pants") like he yearns to do.

My dad and I spent the better part of 3 weeks bass fishing in the Adirondacks every summer until I moved to the West Coast.

Fishing in upstate NY is a fantastic experience even without rubber pants.

scrub (wishes he knew how to fly fish)

If you guys want to fly fish, clearly you need to just use this first excursion as a practice for a larger trip where to go to Montana or Idaho for some real fly fishing. Maybe Ray Zee will help you guys!

Plus, you certainly get to wear the rubber pants when you fly fish.

So basically you are looking for a college town where the hotties hang out at the bait and tackle store...

Will this magical place have Beer instead of water in the stream?

For a real answer, you can rent most things (minus the pants usually) from a local place. Look for a lake to fish in that rents boats. Thing is your off season now for most lake fish or the stock is dried up. I am not a big fresh water guy though so I could be wrong.

Similar is North Shore Long Island Fisihing, the sound is pretty calm and even you 2 couldn't get lost (worse thing is you'd wind up somewhere in CT. Right now you can do good with Bass and Blues.

Central NY right on lake ontario NOrth of Syracuse.

Huge salmon fishing right now. You don't need to fly fish to get them. Just get a pair of good waders. Some tackle walk out there don't drown and put the pole in the water.

I don't think the rubber pants would go over well.

On a related note I met some chick at a party last week that worked at Chinatown Brasawhatever and I mentioned I knew John and we got to talking. We agreed that we should have dinner at Lure sometime soon. Unfortunately I got raelly wasted and totally forgot who I was talking to. Do you know any girls from NYU that worked there?
