Villain is 36.8/12.8/2.3 over 58 hands

I have been playing tight. It was one of those hands where I just decided he was messing me about because the bet sizing did not look confident, but I think this was really bad play.

Maybe I should just raise the flop to both rep a king and find out where I am, and then slow down if called.

Well whatever he has he's betting weak as hell. I'd raise that 2.50 donk on principle most of the time.

Yea thats a weak flop bet, raise it up but if called then I'm done with the hand.

I like to raise his weak flop bet. However a raise out of the SB is generally a strong hand (i very rarely see it at 50nl party). Also i see players betting weakly with strong hands to keep you 'in' with marginal holdings. So i would be very cautious after my flop raise.
