Default Supernova Elite

http://www.pokerstars.com/vip/supernova/elite/

Many thanks to Scotty et al for getting this up. Sounds like 1,000,000 vpps will be very much worth it.I'll certainly give it a go, although I'll likely be sick of poker forever if I do make it. The new Supernova rewards are also up on the Supernova page.

Sexy. Except I don't play at any limit high enough to accomplish that. Oh yeah, and I play at FTP.

Still sexy.

Really unlikely I could last the whole year at a 1-million pace.

I think 500k might be my max but I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't make it even to that.

I know that the guys who do this will be getting an awesome reward and obviously have the ability to play A LOT...but I still think the rules for maintaining your status in 2008 are somewhat hilarious.

you have to earn 50k VPP's/month.
But you are also getting sent to the PCA and Monte Carlo (or WSOP main-event).
Ha ha. Good luck maintaining that pace while you are doing all your travelling!!

Also - you get to choose 2 out of the 3 packages.
But I think the buy-in's and package values are different.
PCA entry is $7500 I think.
WSOP ME is $10k
And I think Monte Carlo is $15k.

These values could change by 2008 of course.
But right now it appears that the best choice would be to take the 2 most expensive ones (although I think I would prefer to go to the PCA than to the WSOP ME).

its not even possible for me to get this at 200NL

that's like 1.9M hands and i dont think anyone can play 170k hands/month

nothing really to shoot for anymore, ill just play however much i play, and get where i get.

kind of disappointed to be honest

The SuperNova Elite is a sham. It has the "it looks cool factor" but is pretty much impossible to achieve for all but the highest stakes players and even then a lot of them would be hard pressed to acheive it.

And the 1 or 2 players who do achieve enough VPP points in the year to get "elite Status" are the ones who play full time for a living and are making 300K a year anyway so It's not that big a deal to them.

Supernova Elite should entice high volume guys who play on multiple sites to concentrate on Stars, me thinks.

Same for me I will fall somewhere between the 500-750K milestone

I play about 100K hands a month and having been playing that volume for over 2 years now.

that's ridiculous.

Of course it's not attainable for most.
That's why it's 'elite'.

They obviously can't just run around doling out $30k prize-packages for everyone.

I'm pretty sure that some of the players who get this will be thrilled to get a $30k prize-package on top of whatever income they are making.

It's hardly a 'sham'.

That word should be reserved for Party VIP type promos where they tell you one thing and then don't give it to you.

if somebody got to 1-million VPP's and THEN Stars decided they didn't want to give him the tourneys THEN it would be a 'sham'.

Obviously this isn't intended for people with other full-tie jobs.
It's meant as a reward for the players who are already putting in an extreme amount of play on Stars or may be capable of doing so.

No, this won't happen.

The high stakes players will play where the games are best. They are not going to devote 100% of their play on Stars just to get a couple of free packages to events.

Game selection is important at all levels but it is absolutely critical at high stakes.

What High Stakes player is going to sacrafice his win rate to play at stars for a couple of free packages when they will make a lot more money with a higher winrate at a different site.
