So Kayla invited me over to watch some stupid show she likes tonight, after she got out of work.

I go over and her roommate, who I often joke with and poke fun at, is off limits today, Kayla tells me. Ok, she must be having a terrible day, I won't make fun of her, fine.

So as time passes I see that her friend seems very "out of it." And I discreetly ask Kayla what is wrong with her/what happend.

I am informed that she took 22 of her anti-depressant pills.

About 5 minutes later we hang up with poison control and go to drive her to the hospital.

There's 2 hospitals across the street from each other, under 2 miles away.

1 is a Veteran's Hospital and one is the one we're supposed to go to.

Kayla and I took my car while the others (overdosed girl and 3 others) went in another car.

Kayla and I drive right to the hospital and the idiots take her to the veteran's hospital. She starts seizing in the car as they are pulling in. They treat her despite it being a hospital for veteran's. She is being kept overnight and seems to be ok now.

Brag: I may have saved a girls life.

Beat: I made a funny, but awfully mean spirited joke at the ER.

Variance: I showed restraint and stopped myself 80% through the joke.

When we got to the hospital after her parents went in to see her the roommates started talking about how pissed off she is gonna be. I chimed in, "No kidding, she's gonna wanna kill herself."

taking 22 anti-deppressant pills would probably mess u up prettty bad but I don't think they would kill u, but I'm not a pharmaceutical-doctor or whatever. I think if u want to kill urself u have to take like whole bottle of aspirin and mix it with a ton of strong alcohol correct?

Oh man, that's a gem - it's really a shame that the most tragic moments in life often yield the most humor gold.

Similar story - this freshman chick at college was in a date auction; she was only bought for $60 far below her perceived worth so she went back to her room and took a bunch of pills and ended up in the hospital. When my friend was told about this story, he responds deadpan - "Geez..I just feel sorry for the guy who bought her."
