I probably overtip. You all can mostly choose what level of tipping you want. But if I catch a player constantly stiffing dealers in my game without good reason I will get a little irate. These people support families on those tips and I'll do what I can to run that cheapskate off.

I tip $1 almost all pots including blind steals in 10/20 LHE - I figure it evens out in the long run. In 1/2 NL I tip ~1% ($1 if pot is > $30 or so) and nothing for the $3 blind steal...

I don't really care if this affects my winrate much because I think it is more important to ensure dealers have a "living wage". As was noted earlier, dealers get minimum wage or less from casinos (akin to how waitresses are paid).

Today I saw a guy throw $1 to the dealer every time he screwed something up that the dealer had to correct (for example if one of his mucked cards skidded into their tray, or if he splashed the pot and a chip rolled away and had to be fetched). I liked the spirit of this.

If everybody tipped the dealer $1 every hand regardless of the pot size I think everyone could be happy. Nobody in their right mind will go deal cards for $7 an hour for no tips. Dealers should make reasonable salaries, players playing lower limits need to understand that after the rake and tips they will probably lose and accept that or not play. 3/6 holdem is an entertainment game, if you don't want to tip play at home. I tip incompetent dealers $1, I tip good dealers 1 chip ($2,$5,$10 whatever). Good dealers increase my profit.

I tip $1 for any pot, even a blind steal.
I tip $2 for a pot over $150.
For bigger pots, I tip 1% of my profit for the pot.

So if you win a 160 pot where you played heads up the whole way, you profit $80. How much do you tip?

[/ QUOTE ]

$2, like I said.
