Straddling

So I read through a thread in the poker theory forum about straddling. I now understand its pros, cons, and why exactly someone would want to get straddling started.

However... what is straddling? I know it has something to do with putting money into the pot early... but thats it. Thanks again!

lets say its a 1/2 no limit game. UTG says "straddle" and puts up 4 dollars before the cards are dealt. cards are dealt, utg+1 is now first to act. if nobody reraises, the straddler would now have the option to reraise even though he is the initial raiser.
