I went to Best Buy a couple of years ago on Black Friday. Got there at 5:30 and there were already about 2k people in line to get in. Only picked up a few things and it took 2 1/2 hours to get through the checkout line that extended up and down the aisles to the back of the store. Worst shopping experience ever. I said never again and I haven't broken my word yet.

I will stick to online shopping. On that note, been planning on getting me a bigger monitor to replace one of my 20" Dells. Don't really want to drop $1200+ on a 30" and then have to upgrade my video card to run it.

So I have been eyeing a 28" HannsG monitor that has gotten good reviews on NewEgg. It normally sells for $600-700 but Costco has it on special right now for $499.99. So ordering me one today. Should work well for 12 tabling with no overlap and still having the tables good size.

Back from my shopping trip.

Shopping is probably 60% or so done.

People were everywhere. One of the highlights is a couple of guys got to Best Buy early for one of their specials (that they only had like 10 of). They were in the parking lot reselling the items that they had bought at a higher price. The police saw them and asked them to leave. Good times.

I found a sweet deal on a piece of jewelry for my wife. Regularly $400 (pieces similar in other stores were at this price also) and I got it for $200.

I love saving money.

I'm expecting the Oakley Thump Pro for Christmas. Anybody have these? They are the Oakley's with a MP3 player built-in. Chris Ferguson and Dog the Bounty Hunter wear them.

Is this a good day to shop in the US or something?

[/ QUOTE ]

Day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year. HUGE sales and stores open at 5:00 or so in the morning. It's called "Black Friday."

Ahh.. we have something similar in Canada, but it's the day after x-mas. It's called 'Boxing day'.

Yeah, that's a big shopping day for us as well as people head out to find the xmas deals from retailers marking [censored] down to get rid of it.

Black friday is insane though and I don't understand why people go through it. The deals are good, but you have to be up at the butt crack of dawn, pick a place, hope you get there early enough and then wait in line hopeing they have enough of what you want so you can get it....

Online FTW!
