1+.20 18man possible semi-bluff
These are from 1+.20 18man tourneys.
My opponent has been playing an average number of hands. He hasn't been doing anything stupid, but he's starting to annoy me. Poker Stars No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t50/t100 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t4575 UTG+1: t3080 CO: t780 Button: t1595 SB: t3210 Hero: t2270 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is BB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 folds, Button calls t100 (pot was t150), SB calls t50 (pot was t250), Hero checks. Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (t300, 3 players) SB bets t300, Hero ??? The more I thought about this, the more I thought it could be a flush draw semibluff. If I put someone on a hand like that, should I be raising here? If I raise and he calls, and the turn is a non spade, will I have to check the turn and give him a free river? |

Re: 1+.20 18man possible semi-bluff
I fold without a better read. Button still to act, reverse implied odds, etc.
With a better read that he'll semibluff here (with a PSB even) I don't know. I guess push or fold. |

Is it really a push or fold, or are you just unsure?

Re: 1+.20 18man possible semi-bluff
I'm pretty sure it's push or fold if you figure he's semibluffing a lot here, but I don't know which. I'd probably fold in the heat of the moment.
Again though you shouldn't just assume he'll semibluff here without having seen him do it before. Your average player at this level doesn't semibluff here often. |

Re: 1+.20 18man possible semi-bluff
id just fold. generally SBs leading out into multiway pots "have it," and even if "it" is just a huge draw, youre barely ahead.

Re: 1+.20 18man possible semi-bluff
If I'm SB, I'll bet into a flop like that with darn near any hand that could be played in that situation. Your range of a flush draw semibluff is too narrow. What else could SB be playing and how much are you prepared to spend to find out?
It's early and you have a lot of chip building to do to have a chance to win. What's wrong with a raise or a jam? You might take down 25% of your stack without a challenge. If you are called you might be ahead. At worst, you are still probably going to 3-4 outs twice, and possibly as many as 9 outs twice. |
