Default Tilt 162 River Action

5k stack (no read) limps in MP for 80, SB completes, hero checks 58o in the BB (8k stack)

Flop is
67Jr

Checked to MP who bet 150, SB folds, hero call.

Turn is 9 rainbow complete

Hero bets out 400, MP thinks and calls.

River is K

Hero bets out 700, MP quickly raises to 1500, push or call?

I'm willing to payoff QT or T8, so I shove to get paid off by villain's set or KJ.

wow - with this draw heavy board you think he's going to reraise with two pair or a set? Certainly villain dependent but my default is to flat call as I think most decent villains are going to know there two pair or set are good less then 50% of the time

i just call

Do we really think he is going to call a 3 bet here with something that we beat? This raise is designed to get called. If he is raising with top two or a set then he is folding to a 3 bet unless he's real shot. I see very little value in doing anything but calling.

bet the flop, 3-bet if raised.

as played, just call. knowing you could have any 2 preflop it is tough to put you on worse than a straight if you shove

I went back and forth on this one (as we discussed)- Here's the dilemma:

I would think most competent players will just smooth-call the river with two pair or less, raise with a straight, and may or may not raise with a set. It does not pay to reraise a competent player, as his calling range becomes a straight and possibly (well probably) KK (although a competent player probably doesn't play KK this way).

a first-level thinker will raise any and all of the above including something like AK. It pays to raise this guy, as anything he raises he'll call a reraise/push because, "gee! I rivered pair- SUCKER!!!"

So it's all read dependant. Lacking one, I'd say you have to go with the typical Tilt $162 tourney player. Since I don't play on Tilt, I have no answer. In a pinch, I look him up on OPR- >15% roi, I call, less I reraise/push.

So the correct answer is undecided.

My first though was I really should just call, what is he raising me with here that I beat and will call an AI. If I was on top of my game I would just call.

Then I thought a little more and decided I could see KJ, Kx, or a set playing this way. I can see alot of hands raising me here that I had beat as well.

In the end I thought I was missing too much value and villan had more possible hands that I beat than ones that beat me vs. random villan and pushed....

This is a great way to stack off to 66,77,JJ,AJ,76. Why would MP raise with a lone Jack or 7 or a mid-pocket?

But I retract what I said earlier. I like betting the flop because if you do get raised, you have a better understanding of where you are when you actually do hit your hand and you're not left guessing if he has the QT and took a stab on the flop and then called your bet on the turn with the OESD and then hit the nuts on the river.

So bet/call flop I think is a better line to take then check/call.
