public transportation in LA is call the MTA=Moving Transients Allover. Unless you get on a commuter line you will not be happy. Use a Taxi if you have to or stay at the Crowne Plaza at Commerce or the Ramada Limited across from The Bike.

I've found that NY'ers seriously misinterpret what Los Angeles public transportation is all about.

Again, rent a car. $60-80 a day or whatever it costs for <25 yo is vastly superior to Los Angeles public transportation. Especially if you will be carrying several hundred dollars on you.

Or just go at times when your friends can go.
