Default Beat: Being retarded can get expensive...

I sent my landlord and the power company checks from my old bank account with no money in it because my checkbooks look identical and I was high. A few days later I realized my mistake. Problem is, my landlord charges late fees and the power company couldn't provide any way to stop payment on my check. So I figured my only choice was to go make a wire transfer from my new bank to my old one. I sent it at the cost of $25, then immediately after the guy at the bank processed it I realized the receiving bank might charge me fees as well, but the guy doing the wire told me receiving banks usually don't charge fees and that I was probably fine. Well I called my old bank to be sure when I got home and sure enough they're also going to charge me $25 for it, which means I didn't send enough money to cover everything. Rush back to the new bank and they tell me they can't cancel the wire they just sent or adjust the amount, so I had to send a whole new one for an extra $50.

All in all, I'm looking at $100 in fees for what should be one simple transfer.

*Sigh*

Remind me to close my old account and burn my checkbook...

Random fact of the day: In the UK there has been a revolt regarding excessive bank fees, you can fill out a standard form and post it to your bank and they'll refund up to 6 years worth of charges

Excessive bank fee revolts and no taxes on poker winnings. I'm SO [censored] envious.

you mail fking checks to nevada power???? i pay my power bill whenever convenient just by bringing and extra hundred or two to albertsons when i go shopping, you stand in line for maybe 10 minutes if you show up friday, but if you go midday or something it takes literally 1 minute to pay your power and southwest gas bill, i pay cox over the phone, checks lol........

Ideally I would pay over the phone but as you know Nevada power charges like $5 per use.

LOL @ suggesting going to a store and waiting in line for 10 minutes is easier than dropping a check in the mail.
