I think I found a spot for a free SD raise
PokerStars 10/20 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)
Preflop: Hero is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero raises, 3 folds, SB calls, BB 3-bets, Hero calls, SB calls. Flop: (9 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, BB folds, Hero calls. Turn: (8 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets, Hero raises, SB calls. River: (12 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero checks. Final Pot: 12 BB SB's check/3-bet 3 bet on the flop pretty much tells me Ad or a monster. Furthermore, even if villain has a monster like a set or two pair, he probably has to respect the flush flop. Villain does not appear to be overly aggressive or good |

Seems like a straight value raise to me.

Re: I think I found a spot for a free SD raise
I prefer to just call down in these spots. Given that villian is not overly aggressive, I think you are usually behind with just 1pr. The pot is 9BB when he leads the turn, so it will cost you 2BB to see SD and win 10BB - maybe you are good more than 20% of the time for a +EV calldown. I'd hate to have him 3bet with just a diamond on the turn and have to fold, or get donked into on the river when a diamond comes and the pot is 12BB - since a fold would probably be bad given you're HU.

Value bet river. He'll call you with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] all day.

Re: I think I found a spot for a free SD raise
You should be taking one of these 3 lines in this spot.
1) Just calling down. 2) Raise/folding the turn and value betting the river. 3) Calling the turn and raise/folding a blank river. I hope you understand that one of these three lines has to be better than the line you took, and that is why your free showdown raise is incorrect. |

Standard value raise on the turn. What happened on the river?

Re: I think I found a spot for a free SD raise
Seems like an easy calldown to me without more of a read, those who think it's a turn raise and river bet, what am I missing?

Re: I think I found a spot for a free SD raise
sharpie i don't think you're missing anything. This isn't a fsdr by any means. I don't like to pop the turn because i know nothing about this guy and have to call a 3-bet, esp. in this game.
Turn raise is great for "Well he either has a monster or a draw..." changing to "he has a draw" to river [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] "here comes a sick bluff" to "he 3-bet. Maybe 3-bet fold to a cap with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]" to "20k hands stats post - what are my leaks?" |

Re: I think I found a spot for a free SD raise
People have 87 no diamond, play it like this and then pay me off all the time.
