Default Any beginner forum mods here?

We need to update the FAQ here on the beginner's forum. I had talked with BruceZ about it a while back - I know that he had some other things going on at the time, but that was several months ago. Any chance we can get some action on this? I'd volunteer to write it up.

I've been trying too. BruceZ doesn't seem too interested.

I wrote this up a while ago thinking it could be revised and put up as a sticky:

Raze's pooh-bah post should definitely be stickied.

Some of the regulars here that I've talked to about this have encouraged using the wiki that others have put together. I think this is a great resource, but I really think we should have answers to the routine questions in a FAQ here. I just wish we could get it done whatever is decided as best to use.

No disrespect to the guys who put the current one together, but when we get the same questions every week, those things need to be addressed in the FAQ.

If you write up a new faq, I will definitely sticky it. Maybe you should start a thread where everyone can brainstorm what questions should be included and what posts should be linked to? Or you can just write the whole thing up yourself if you already have thought out what to include.

Btw, I am going to try to watch this forum more closely in the future, but if there is ever anything that needs my attention please PM me.

Raze's post is awesome but I am not stickying it right now because I think we shouldn't sticky threads with lots of replies since some people browse in Expanded mode and now they would have that whole list of replies at the top every time they check the forum. I think the best thing to do is to have one sticky/ faq and have it link to everything else to minimize clutter.

I totally agree. And I like the idea of a brainstorming thread.

Ottsville - if you would like to work together with me in creating a Beginner's sticky/FAQ I think we could come up with something really great to improve this forum.

Bobbyi- Thank you for replying - I was beginning to think we were the red-headed stepchildren here in the beg forum.

I'll start up a thread for FAQ suggestions and go from there.

Raze - I'll be glad to work with you on this, but let's discuss ideas in a thread that way everyone can comment.

At least someone should unsticky the existing sticky as it's terribly out of date.

When AKQJ10 and I were trying to put together a FAQ a couple years ago there wasn't much interest from Mason or the mods in having a permanent FAQ. Thus, we wrote the FAQ and posted it elsewhere on my website and then on the wiki.

If the feeling about having a FAQ has changed, I'd be pleased.
