People picking MK over the versus games are extra retarded; the MK games are some of the worst fighters ever made.

Anyone who picks KI over SF2 needs to be rocketed into the sun, for humanity's sake.

The other two are harder; I went with the Namco games because I like purdy graphics and pressing buttons. :3 I'm not going to hate anyone for preferring something like SSBM or Alpha 2, though.

I think Virtua Fighter got a rough matchup in the first round. It's a lot better than KI and MK, imo.

The MvC games are way better in just about every aspect. MK was groundbreaking in that it caused a video game violence uproar and, sure, you might have some fond memories of it from your childhood, but that doesn't make it a better all around fighter. MvC should be getting the easy vote here.

I agree that MK1 was crap, but MK2 was much much better. It is like they took MK1 and actually turned it into a real game. I lost interest after that though. MK3 felt like a rehash of the same thing and I was perplexed at how "mortal" now meant "gods and robots".

Setting up and maintaining those infinites is a whole 'nother question. Ironman is the only one with decent setups and an infinite that you can actually do without messing up a high percentage. Even then any good players will easily avoid ironman's setups.

Also note that Magneto ROM infinite goes on for a certain amount of hits before they dizzy and the combo breaks. Storm's trijump infinite is ridiculously hard to do on normal sized characters.

It's not like infinites break the game at all like in the case of Xmen vs Streetfighter. You may have standard super combos that can kill one of the other characters with full health, but that's part of the attraction for me. It's fun making an insano comeback.

i still enjoy the mvc games, and i don't find them to be hopelessly broken. i don't like things to rapidly devolve into degeneracy vs anti-degeneracy though; it's more metagaming than gaming, and depending on ease of execution it can really harm the natural learning curve. i have simply had more fun playing mk though, and i think it is much more important in terms of impact. that's not because of gore either, they were the first to make a big splash on button layout, juggle systems, secret characters, etc.
