Default Re: Great xbox 360 + halo 3 + Samsung DLP deal! (save $410)

Now all I see is a $350 deal w/out Halo 3. I think I'm going to step up and get a 61", xbox, and get Halo 3 after tomorrow. Anyone know how long this deal is going to last? Also, has anyone had any trouble w/ the DLP projection? I currently have an LCD and want to know how it would compare to a DLP projection TV.

You might want to do some price comparisons on the 61", I didn't do any myself since I went with the cheapest one, but I heard the price difference between amazon and best buy might be around $300 for the bigger tv's. It might be worth shopping around for the higher end models.

Like others said, this is is really only a sick deal if you get the 50" 720p model. Otherwise it seems to be just an ok deal at best.

As for LCD vs plasma vs DLP, I have heard only good things about DLP, and it should have a longer life as well. You might need to pay around $200 to replace the bulb in a DLP every 3-7 years, but the plasma/LCD wear out and those don't have a bulb to replace, they just need to be entirely replaced eventually.

The one I was looking at is already on sale for $200 less + the $350 off (I've been doing my research...), which actually makes this a better deal since I was planning on purchasing the 360 anyway once Halo came out. This looks like a sweet deal, now I just gotta make some room in my apt until I can move in to my house.

Also, thanks for the info on the DLP projection TV's

Bad things about DLP (the samsung 50" in particular):

1. There's like no vertical viewing angle. It's approximately 4 degrees. If you stand up to play, say, a wii game, you can barely see what's going on on the screen.

2. See 1.

3. No, really, this is terrible. Read that again.

Depending on your sitting setup this is really the only thing that would keep someone from getting a DLP. It's not as bad as Duke describes unless you have a small living area and want to play Wii.

I went and viewed the 50" Samsung this weekend, and I can say that even in my small apartment living room I'm not gonna have a problem with this.
