NBC Heads-Up for 2008
I need to post a correction after speaking with Mori Eskandani of Poker PROductions.
The "option year" for NBC Heads-Up isn't until 2009. That means NBC Heads-Up will once again be held in 2008. Despite the lower TV ratings in 2007 (down about 15% compared to 2006), NBC Heads-Up still draws an aggregate of over 10 million viewers ages 2 and over in the U.S. each year when you add up all the viewers from every airing that watch the show on NBC and re-runs on CNBC. The average number of households per show on NBC, at about 1.5 million viewers ages 2 and over, is still the highest for a televised poker in the U.S. (higher average than the WSOP Main Event on ESPN.) Of course, TV viewership for poker in the U.S. is harder to monetize compared to the past, with practically everyone in the online poker "school" category other that FullTiltPoker.net having cancelled their TV ads in the U.S. after the NETELLER fiasco (UB/Absolute still run TV ads which were bought before the big budget cut in April.) |
