Laptop screen blacking out

recently, my laptop screen has been blacking out on me at random times.

when i open it up it works fine but then just dies on me - it seems like a picture connection or something thats not going through [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

im not overly sore on it either - if im using my laptop any day, i open it when i start use and close when i finish use.

what can i do? a new laptop required? any quick and easy cure?
