Re: Playing against a light 3 bettor
Reason why I wanted to know was that I didn't want to let him hit any overcards vs me such as TJ,QK,AK,AJ,AT,9t. By doing this, I sometimes fold better hands such as 99-JJ and protects my hand. So in a sense it's a value shove against his wide 3 betting range. In a sense i'm protecting my hand.

Re: Playing against a light 3 bettor
yeah I agree with that 65s is better. Jowever, I think it's tough to call with JJ~99 on this flop without history. A light 3 bettor doesn't fold any Q here for sure. Under these circumstances I like your play.

Re: Playing against a light 3 bettor
Board: 6c 4s Qh
Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 09.678% 09.68% 00.00% 4599 0.00 { 8d8h } Hand 1: 90.322% 90.32% 00.00% 42921 0.00 { QQ+, 66, 44, AQs, KQs, QJs, AQo, KQo } EV if villain folds to shove=$89 If i shove, I have 9.68% to win EV of shoving and being behind EV=(9.68%)(416)+(90%)(-183) EV=40.26-164 EV=-124$ Fold equity to make it neutral ev? Where x= fold equity% 0=x(89)+(1-x)(-$124) 0=89-124+124x 0=124x-35 35=124x x=28% So I need him to fold more than 28% of time to make this good. And I really think against his wide light 3betting range, this makes it really +EV |

Re: Playing against a light 3 bettor
Just call flopbet, if you insist on playing for stacks, you can also call his turnshove.

Re: Playing against a light 3 bettor
For people who don't know, AK has an equity of 10% of so against his calling range if we shove.

Re: Playing against a light 3 bettor
In the grand scheme of things, it's a whole lot easier to exploit a guy who's version of adjusting to a light 3-bettor is calling preflop and then calling off his stack with underpairs on dry flops, than it is to exploit a guy who starts raising a wider range on the flop / 4-betting preflop / etc.. I much prefer raising this flop rather than calling and planning to stack off on most turns if only for this reason.

Re: Playing against a light 3 bettor
yeah what dire said, gl guessing whether you are getting valueshoved or 2nd barreled on basicly any turn (but the decision is obv harder on overcards) ...
i'm not sure 88 (10% equity vs his callrange) is the best hand to do it with, both AK (14%) and 65s (23%) are a lot better imho btw: to everyone who is calling a 3bet pf with a wide range and shoving a lot flops to make up for it, you call 3bet pf/shove flop with QQ+ too right? |
