Default 2-7 TD question General strategy question

I'm a new 2/7 TD player and I have a general strategy question for the game. I was recently dealt 257xx on the button in a 3 handed 2/7 TD game. I raised the blinds and the BB called. He drew 3 and I drew two, and caught a 6 for 2567x. He checked, I bet, he folded. Great, I won a small pot. But after the hand I started to wonder if I made the right play by betting. After all, if I had checked it down he probably would have drawn two to my one card draw (I don't think that he would have folded any one card draw, not even a rough 8 since I had been very aggressive with position in this game and I could have had anything). I had 8 outs twice to hit my seven, so I'm wondering if I should have let him take a free two card draw there hoping that he would improve enough to call me on the next round. He would probably call me again if he made a 9 or better on the last draw also. Did I pass up some addition value with my good draw, or was betting him out the right move here?
