Default B2B Marketing

I just wanted to see if anyone has any experience or ideas about marketing a service to other businesses.

Our marketing is very targeted (Manufacturnig companies in the Chicago area $10M + sales, 25+ employees). The only way that we market ourselves currently is through cold calling. We have tried adsense but, the results were all over the map.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Having a strong website is a big plus. Look to make referral offers, often these firms are networked, and they'll pass on clients to you if you give them some incentive. This gets them to call you.

Always be closing, dont take no for an answer. Keep calling. You never know, you could get a new manager who's interested.

Turn up to some business meets. Talk about your product. Get a pitch in a trade magazine.

What kind of service? General consulting or as I guess from what you wrote something more specific?

I own a staffing company. We want to reach Engineering Managers or other decision makers in manufacturing companies in a specific geographic area. Cold calling works great but, we would be willing to try some new things or spend money to get our name out there a bit more.

For a more direct/personal approach could be an idea to visit the biggest trade shows of the area, where potential customers are present with stands and get in touch with them. Take advantage also of the fact that some of them are probably linked togheter or are part of a category organization to spread your contacts.
Another idea could be to organize some seminars where you present an important/interesting topic about staffing and why the firms you are targeting should care about it and then at the same time obviously in an indirect way promote your firm.
