I think it's possible that Yang and his family wasn't really thinking straight during the final table?? I mean, I get nervous when I'm heads up for a $250 prize, and Yang was playing for a few bucks more, so if he (or anyone) says something ridiculous we shouldn't really blame him for that. Maybe Khan looks like a jerk on TV, but he's probably a good guy besides that, I think the excitement (and Red Bulls) were getting to him. So why should we judge them like this? You do realize that this is probably going to be the most significant moment in all of their lives, right? So what if they get emotional or say weird things? They're not prepared for this!

One more thing - all of you saying this will be bad for poker probably didn't realize that it was primarily Christian lobbyists who got the Internet Gambling bill passed, and that seeing a devout Christian with plans to donate a lot of money win the main event will probably help to change a lot of minds.

i still think Jamie Gold did a masterful, MASTERFUL!! job
confusing his opponents into making bad calls etc... jerry yang did get extremely lucky... but then again... on every show i've seen for those last 3 or 4 tables, ( ME '07 ) it seemed like EVERYONE got extremely lucky... kahn flops quad queens against AA... Dag hits a royal flush against KK(? was it?) Yang hit runner, runner wheel straight when he was all in after the flop on a bluff-gone-bad... at around 28 players... gus hansen flopped trip 10's vs QQ.... all in pf...

[/ QUOTE ] I think you figured it out. Everybody who gets to the final table got lucky, not just in 2007 but in every year since there were 100 or more players. That is just the nature of poker. Stu Ungar got lucky when he won, Greg Raymer got lucky when he won, etc.... Skill increases your likelihood of making it to the final table, but we are talking about something of the nature of a skilled player will make it there .5% of the time while a bad player will make it ther .1% of the time (assuming a field of 6000). So most of these threads are useless.
