I find this an effective technique while drawing to a flush such as the example here. Do other members on this forum employ this technique or is it a bad move? |

i dont like it out of position. doing it in position is a good limit hold em move and can work in NL too... though i usually only min raise or barely over min raise (raise to 240-300 in this case, and only if im in position.)

You aren't check-raising to get free cards here--you're doing it as a value bet. You flopped an absolute monsters--2 overcards plus a flush draw. On the flop, you're a favorite against strong hands like A8 and TT and you're only a small underdog to sets. The only hand that beats you here is Ax of diamonds. After check-raising the flop, you should generally bet the turn. You'll take down the pot surprisingly often and when you don't, you still have plenty of outs.
